My Personal Symbol

Around the time I was 19, I decided on using a symbol I learned of in Differential Calculus as my personal mark. It's also incorporated into my signature. You will see it's also the favicon and the home button for this site.
The Math
Within the context of Set Theory, the phrases “for all”, “there exists”, and “member of” are used so frequently that we have found it useful to adopt the following shorthand. The symbol ∀ means “for all” or “for any”. The symbol ∃ means “there exists”. We also use the symbol ∈ to mean "member of". Putting all of this together, when you see the equation
∀x ∈ R
This means, for all values of x in the the set of all Real numbers...
The Meaning
I take this symbol a bit more philosophically. I pursued this career of technology not just because of my love of science and engineering, but also out of a desire to make applications and products that make the world a better place. At the risk of sounding melodramatic, after we're gone all that is left behind is the products of our work and the impact we've made on other people. Given that fact, I see no better use of our efforts than to help each other and make the world a better place for all. To do things that benefit at least one person, and hopefully everyone. For All.
